FORAGER PROJECT’S NEW FLAVORS OF ORGANIC PRESSED VEGETABLE CHIPS

Forager Project has introduced three new flavors of organic Pressed Vegetable Chips using upcycled plant fiber from their cold-pressed juices. Joining Forager’s growing line of organic, plant-based, dairy-free foods made with simple ingredients, Pressed Vegetable Chips are now available in Chipotle BBQ, Cheezy Greens, and Wasabi Greens. Committed to creating products that are better for people and the planet, Forager reduces food waste by upcycling otherwise composted vegetable fiber sourced from pressing their own vegetable juice.

Forager Project began in 2013 with a focus on high-quality, cold-pressed vegetable juices that were high in nutrients and low in sugar. After tasting the organic vegetable fiber left in the press, Founder and CEO Stephen Williamson believed the beautiful vegetable pulp would not only make a great base for a chip but would also leverage Forager’s raw ingredients, helping to reduce food waste and create a more sustainable proposition for the company and its consumers.

“Waste is a matter of perspective,” said Forager Founder & CEO Stephen Williamson. “We had all of this lovely, organic vegetable pulp that we were composting, and thought, there has got to be a better way. We’re as interested in creating healthy, plant-based foods as we are in mitigating our impact on the planet.”

The three new flavors include:

  • Chipotle BBQ: With subtle smoky heat, this is an elevated BBQ chip with a kick

  • Cheezy Greens: Seasoned with nutritional yeast for a cheesy but dairy-free experience. Perfect for my cheese cravings! This one is my favorite. I love the cheesy flavor, which is something I don’t get to eat often.

  • Wasabi Greens: a bold, balanced punch of flavor. Too spicy for me.

Similar in texture to a traditional tortilla chip but gluten-free and corn-free, Forager’s Organic Vegetable Chips combine fresh-pressed vegetable fiber from their cold-pressed juices with ancient grains, seeds, organic seasoning, and a touch of sea salt for a distinct flavor and satisfying crunch. Committed to creating products that are better for people and the planet, Forager reduces food waste by upcycling otherwise composted vegetable fiber sourced from pressing their own vegetable juice.

The chips are perfect for snacking by themselves or paired with your favorite guacamole or salsa.

Ready to eat and share, each 5oz bag of Forager’s organic Pressed Vegetable Chips retails for $3.99 and can be purchased in stores nationwide. Chipotle BBQ is available in a 1.5oz bag for $1.99 at select retailers. More information, including a list of ingredients, can be found on Forager Project’s website.

10049_88f0308395b905631d280df0784ce71b

Deep River Snacks, a leader in premium, natural and flavorful snacks, released a new addition to its line up: HONCHOS Tortilla Chips. This exciting new line of organic tortilla chips was just launched last month.  HONCHOS are made with 90-100% organic ingredients, and are 100% non-GMO, Certified Gluten-Free, and made in a nut-free facility. Most importantly, HONCHOS are made without artificial dyes, flavors and preservatives.

HONCHOS are available in three delicious varieties:

  • Nacho Cheese
  • Ranch
  • Peach Habanero.

Ranch and Peach Habanero are 100% organic and bear the USDA Organic Seal; Nacho Cheese is 90% organic. Nacho Cheese and Ranch contain milk. All flavors are offered in 1.5oz and 5oz sizes, perfect for on-the-go and at-home snacking.

HONCHOS resemble Doritios in looks but not taste. They are way better and healthier than Doritios. The Peach Habanero deliver an intense, sweet and spicy taste all at once and are my favorite. Jeremy likes the Nacho Cheese best. He says “these taste better than Doritios!” Since I haven’t actually eaten a Doritio in almost 10 years, I trust him on that!

In keeping with the company’s iconic line of kettle chips, the back of each bag features a charity partner that has had a direct impact on a Deep River Snacks employee. The Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism is promoted on the back of Nacho Cheese, PSC Partners on Ranch, and the Chris Klug Foundation on Peach Habanero. The back of HONCHOS also communicates the company’s commitment to donate 10% of profits to charity.

Deep River Snacks and HONCHOS products are available nationwide at fine delis, grocery and convenience stores as well as online at Amazon.com.

Product Review: Beanitos Gluten Free Bean Chip Review

Beanitos – AMAZING TASTE—POWERFUL NUTRITION

Screen Shot 2013-10-20 at 9.21.13 PMBeanitos are an honestly delicious snack made from nutritious beans that are full of fiber and protein. They’re real food, full of crunchy flavor, free of preservatives, and made with only natural non-GMO ingredients.

Beanitos are produced using Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). They follow strict guidelines that require the machinery be washed and sanitized before and after each time they make Beanitos. Beanitos’ chips are certified gluten-free, and lab tests are preformed during production to ensure that gluten is not present.

They only source ingredients of the highest quality that have not been genetically modified. Beanitos don’t use any fillers, artificial colors, artificial flavors, or preservatives like many other snack foods—they are truly all natural. Also, Beanitos chips contain no trans fat, MSG or cholesterol.Screen Shot 2013-10-20 at 9.20.09 PM

Beanitos are lower in sodium than most snack chips, ranging from only 55 mg to 140 mg per serving. No other snack chip can boast all the healthy nutrition of Beanitos!

As the name suggests, Beaintos are made from beans rather than corn. Corn is used as a filler in many processed foods and provides minimal nutritional value. Food sensitivities to corn are on the rise. Beanitos has eliminated this ingredient all together; creating a healthier vegan chip that is loaded with fiber and complete protein.

Beanitos chips are made from one of three protein-rich beans—white, black, or pinto—and combined with whole grain brown or white rice.

Just one serving of the restaurant-style white bean chips (1 oz. or 12 chips) contain:

  • Full 4 grams complete protein
  • Amazing 6 grams fiber
  • Satisfying 16 grams carbohydrates
  • Only 7 grams fat with NO trans fats
  • NO sugar added
  • Just 140 calories

Chipotle BBQ – had a nice smoky flavor with a touch of spiciness. I was very (pleasantly) surprised by the taste. My coworker said it perfectly, “it’s spicy and smoky. It’s salty, sorta sweet, and has a nice kick all at the same time!”

Nacho Cheese – tasted like a healthy, gluten free version of Doritos. They were very addictive.

Better Cheddar – salty and cheesy, which is not something you find everyday in a chip. The cheese flavor is really light and subtle.

White Bean Restaurant Style – are made with sea salt. They were delicious both on their own and with dips.

Original Black Bean – had great flavor and are great to eat with homemade chili or salsa.

Simply Pinto Bean – This was my favorite. The taste was different from any other chip I’ve ever tried. The chips have a ton of flavor and I could not put them down; I ate almost the entire bag in one sitting!

Each of the flavors of Beanitos were crunchy and filling. If you are looking for a healthy snack that still has lots of flavor, these are definitely worth trying.
