My favorite was the Almond Butter with Chia, Hemp Seed and Goji. This uber-nutritious source of complete protein, heart-healthy fats, and wide-ranging micronutrients made for a delicious afternoon snack. I topped my brown rice cakes with the butter and felt re-energized for the afternoon.

So how does this compare to regular almond butter?

Superfood Almond Butter Ingredients: low-temp roasted California almonds, organic sunflower seeds, organic chia seeds, organic coconut palm sugar (low glycemic), organic hemp seeds, organic goji powder, organic lucuma.

Jif Almond Butter Ingredients: roasted almonds, sugar, hydrogenated vegetable oils (rapeseed, cottonseed, and soybean), sunflower oil, contains 2% of less of: salt.

Which one would you rather eat? I’ll stick with Yumbutter. I do not want added sugar or hydrogenated oils in my food thank you very much.

Refrigeration is not necessary. Yumbutter will last for several months without refrigeration. Do store it out of direct sunlight and in a cool place, if possible. That said, refrigeration will help Yumbutter keep even longer. It will also keep some of the natural oils from rising to the top. Many of the potions remain creamy even while refrigerated. Experiment and see what works for you. I keep mine in my desk drawer at work.

Yumbutter partners with profit Primeros Pasos (www.primerospasos.org) to establish its BuyOne:FeedOne program to provide nutrition and health services to malnourished mothers and children in Guatemala – serving 45,000 to date! Through this program Yumbutter has become a company that nourishes the world, making it possible for anyone to aid the underserved without a major lifestyle change. In this way, social responsibility New Year’s goals can work hand in hand with improved personal nutrition!

You can purchase Yumbutter online, or at Wegman’s and other leading grocery chains throughout  the U.S.

I've been on a gluten free diet since January 2009. It's been an adventure, and a challenge at times. I love to go to new restaurants and try new foods, and being gluten free can make eating out difficult at times. But I will not let my dietary restrictions get in my way of finding new restaurants and products. These are my stories of being a young women in a big city, eating out and trying new foods, all while NOT eating gluten. Like I said, it's an adventure and you are welcome to come along... Please note that as I try to eat gluten free 100% of the time, my intolerance is not as severe as others so please use caution when dining at restaurants that are not certified gluten free.
